You can stop referencing a file, and choose whether to keep the referenced items in the target file.

To delete a reference to a file:

Select the command, or click either Layer Options or Class Options on the View bar, and then select Show Organization Dialog Box.

The Organization dialog box opens.

From the References tab, select the file to stop referencing, and then click Delete.

The Delete Reference dialog box opens.

Specify whether to keep referenced objects in the target file or delete them. The options are slightly different, depending on what type of reference file is selected.

For Vectorworks, DXF/DWG, Revit, and IFC files, select whether to keep or delete the referenced layers and objects. Also specify whether to keep all referenced resources, or to delete unused resources.

For PDF, image, or Excel files, select whether to delete or import the referenced objects.
